For Your steadfast love is before my eyes, and I walk in faithfulness to You. – Psalm 26:3
In January, we are invited to take part in an adventure of discovering and growing into a life of responding to God in new ways. We’re calling it “60 Steps of Faith”, and the idea is simple: to pay attention, to listen for the little (or big) ways God is nudging us throughout the week, and to respond – to step out in faith and follow through.
Sometimes we’re already listening and following – but we just haven’t stopped to recognize that it’s God who gave us that nudge. This is a way to be more prayerful about it – to give God the glory and recognition for being at work around us.
Other times we can get caught up in our own worlds – stresses, dreams, and so on – and we miss what God is trying to tell us, what God is calling us out of and what God is calling us into. This is an opportunity to go through the week, prayerfully asking to see and hear what God is calling us to do.
That starts with prayer. Prayer at the start of the week and through the week. Prayer that we can recognize and respond to God’s will. It might be as simple as helping us notice someone having a hard day, or telling us to bite back on words we’d regret later. God might show us something in our lives that needs to change, or call us to try something new.
Remember, you’re not alone. We’ll be walking together on this journey, and most importantly, walking in the footsteps of the Son of God who said: “I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me” (John 6:38). If you’re listening and wondering what God might be calling you to, or want to talk through a step of faith, come talk to us; I and/or someone from the Diaconate would be very glad to meet with you.
Blessings on the Journey,
