Happy Spring!! It is a beautiful spring day as I sit here writing this (almost summer weather) and I can’t help but think of how quickly the weather can change. Just earlier in the week we were taking walks with heavy jackets, hats, and gloves, and now my children are running around in shorts and tank tops. It reminds me of the way God works in our lives when we give it over to Him and have faith. Just that quickly, we can feel a sense of peace and acceptance that is not found anywhere else.
With May comes the wrap-up of our Sunday School classes and Children’s Church until the fall. This is not meant to discourage you from joining one of the classes offered, but to encourage you to come and see what you may be missing out on. We are all learning so many things in our classes with more to learn every time we meet. I have learned a lot from not only attending the adult class, but also from teaching our little ones every other month. We would like everyone to feel comfortable in coming to Sunday School, so please let us know if there is another class you would like to see offered.
On a side note, summer is almost here, which also means that VBS will be upon us soon. We are planning on having it in August again on a Friday night and Saturday afternoon, but still looking at dates. If you would like to help out with this, please let me know as we will be having an information meeting coming soon.
I love this time of the year. It doesn’t snow (as often, anyways), the temperature is increasing and best of all, new life is forming all around. It’s amazing to watch the flowers that have been sleeping all winter coming up to make our world more colorful. What’s even more amazing is knowing that the One who created all of those magnificent colors can also create beauty in our lives. God is the master Artist and while natures growth is a beautiful thing to see, I love knowing that He can do even more in the lives of His best masterpiece, us. A great way to experience this growth is by fellowship with others in His name. It’s also great to know that there are many fabulous opportunities here in our own church for this to happen. There are three different Sunday School classes offered to everyone. Our children’s class is for those under the age of 13, and we are lucky to offer two different classes for the adults and youth.
There are many other groups available to join no matter what your special talents are. If you enjoy knitting/crocheting, we have Yarn Ladies. Love to sing? We have the Joyful Noise and choir. If you love children, we are always looking for teachers to help out. It you have a passion, let us know as these are just a couple of ways to use your Spiritual Gift.
This summer we have another chance to touch the lives of our littlest people. VBS is just around the corner and the theme this year is Pets Unlimited. If you are interested in helping out, please let me know soon as I would like to have a meeting in May.
Happy New Year!!! This is the time of the year we all make resolutions to do better at something (eating healthy, exercise, organization). Why not make one of those resolutions to become better acquainted with the One who loves us and can help us become better people? There are many ways to learn about what He wants for us happening right here in church. There are Sunday School classes for young and old, Life Change groups, and even ways of being a disciple in our community.
Our Sunday School classes start at 9:00 am and there are two different adult classes to choose from, one of which is geared towards our youth as well. We also have a class for our children ages 2 through 5th grade. During the service Children’s Church is available for the young ones to go downstairs and learn more about God’s love for them. It has been a warm fall, but the seasons are about to change. While there is less daylight now so we are inside longer, this means we have more time to play games, read a book, and just be around the ones we love. Consider attending one of our great Sunday school classes. There is one to fit everyone.
Here is what is going on in our Sunday School classes:
- The adult class will continue their book study by Dr. David Jeremiah called The Agents of the Apocalypse, that takes them on a journey through the book of Revelation.
- “The Kid’s Table” (youth/adult class) will read The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, by Barbara Robinson, and then start Rob Bell’s Nooma series.
- The children’s class will be learning about God’s promise to us with the birth of His only Son.
The children will begin to practice for the Christmas Eve service. They will be given parts to memorize as well as practicing Christmas songs. Continue reading “Christian Education Update”
The air is cool and the trees are starting to turn into those gorgeous colors we all love. While I personally am not a fan of cold, I do love the colors God chose when he created this time of the year. There is always so much to see, smell, and explore during this time. The same goes for our different Sunday School classes, although hopefully not so much on the smell end.

Our children’s church also resumed on September 13th, and is meeting in the Sunday School room. This is a great opportunity for the kids to learn about God and His love while getting to listen to stories, sing songs and do some crafts. We will be continuing on our study of the Fruits of the Spirit.

We are still looking for a couple more people to help out with Children’s Church. It is a rotating schedule, so you will only be needed every month and a half or so. Please let Jen Koenigs or Jen Hobbs know if you are interested. If you are interested in providing a snack as well, please let me know.
The flowers are blooming, the grass is green and the weather is warmer. May also brings the end of our Sunday School classes and Children’s Church for the start of summer. Please take the time to consider joining one of our classes as there is always something to learn. We want to thank all of our teachers for doing such a great job in composing very thoughtful and meaningful lessons.
May also brings the departure of our friend Elena Fryer. She is a wonderful teacher and will be greatly missed by the children but we wish her well and God bless in her move. We would also like to welcome Sarah as the new teacher for our Preschool/Kindergarten class. Continue reading “Christian Education Update”
